I absolutely love this series. It is a good size -- easy for travel or just use at home. I use mine as a travel journal of sorts. I take it on trips and as I do each puzzle I record the date and what I did that day. Fun to look back at. I had done all the first degree books and was excited to see the new second degree series out! The puzzles are a good size and print is easy to read. After finishing 4 of these books I am yet to find an error. I used to be a suduko player, but got bored. These books have kept my interest for quite awhile. It takes me about a year to finish each book. I've done several different books over the years and this series has been by far my favorite. Just starting the Brown belt and finding it a good challenge. Takes me about 30% longer to do the Brown Belt puzzle than the green belt ones.

I like this book, however, I think many of the puzzles in this book are easy enough to be in the "easier" leveled books, and others belong in the Black Belt book. I actually think that they did a pretty poor job of deciding the levels for the puzzles in all their books. Many of the puzzles in the Green Belt book really belong in this or the Black Belt book, and vise-versa. They're good puzzles, but they could have done a better job in choosing which puzzles to place in which book.

I love that the grids are 13x22 & only have 6 "warm-up" puzzles. They're easy enough to solve without needing hints, but challenging enough to make you think. I ordered the book over a year ago & liked it so much, this is actually my 2nd copy! This is the best series of Kakuro books I've found. I don't like the ones with 20 "beginner" puzzles ranging from 6x6 to 8x8, I like the larger puzzle grid. It has a good quality paper that doesn't tear or wear out if you erase over the same spot multiple times. Very recommended!!!

I've bought almost all of the Kakuro books on Amazon (only skipped most of the "easy" ones) The "Martial Arts" series is by far the best. Very well categorized by level. And within each of the books the puzzles are carefully selected to be increasingly challenging. Having seen too many puzzle books that are just "thrown together", one has to appreciate the editors of this one taking care in producing a sensible order. I just finished "Brown Belt Kakuro", and am now starting the "Black Belt" level.

I love Kakuro Puzzles. besides that, I've realized that my mental math ability is not as it used to be back in my school days. It's not that of a problem, but do I like to know that I can work things out in my head, eventhough it's not so necessary nowadays. I bought this to refresh my mental math, and I can see results already. the puzzles are big enough, not like the ones that you finish before starting them... This little book occupies your entire mind leaving no space for any scary thoughts that creap into your head late at night, and wont let you sleep..

These puzzles are hard, but there are enough easy spots in them to give me an accomplished start. I haven't found any puzzles that are too easy for this book (not even the 1/2-size puzzles at the beginning of the book). I'm on my second book, and I've just preordered Second-Degree Brown Belt Kakuro, which I hope will be more of the same.
