Wow. I have met this man and before I was introduced, I was told a little about his history and what he wanted to achieve. I met him in a small town in Florida, grew to respect what he was trying to do, and was disappointed when he left the church and went on to share his words in other ways. I was angry with the church for what i felt was their using him as the scapegoat to get them out of some trouble. But I realize after reading the book, that I knew nothing about him; had no clue as to the depth of his convictions and love for God; and was even more in the dark as to what forces brought him to where he is today. I must say that I raised a few eyebrows at some of his stories but I am one of those people that feel you cannot believe in one without believing in the others. You cannot believe in His unseen forces without believing in the others - no matter how far-fetched they may seem.I really admire and respect someone who is able to overcome all the things that Pat has and become the man he is today. He gives all the credit to God but I give him credit as well. No matter how loud God yells or how hard he pushes you, if you aren't receptive to his words or strong enough to listen and follow, then God's pokes wont work. I want to thank him for having the courage to write this book and share his experiences, for knowing when to elaborate and how much to share, for showing us that we all can be forgiven and follow His path; that we all don't have to be perfect to feel His love. I for one, am very grateful and encourage you to read this book.

Pat Nave's journey from a double life in an outwardly religious family that simultaneously dealt drugs and lived a life of crime is hard to fathom. His roller coaster ride between good and evil was a life salvaged through God's amazing grace. I could not put the book down. My only reason for giving this book a four instead of a five is due to the gaps in the story for me. I wondered whatever happened to Pat's father, mother, and siblings. And I wanted to know more about his relationship with his family of origin since he completed his education and went into the ministry, which must have stunned his family. Overall, a great read. Highly recommended.

Once I started, I couldn't quit until I finished! The author shares openly about the horrors of his childhood! How God protected him and how God just kept knocking. His story is a poignant reminder the power of God and the true beauty of his love for us! I am challenged to be faithful to my daily devotion and reminded "that God is real, that spiritual warfare is real, and that God wants me to get serious about my faith and about serving him."
